KRNL Labs x Sig Network

Groundbreaking Cryptographic Bridge for Cross-Chain Swaps

KRNL Labs and Sig Network have joined forces to unveil a next-generation cryptographic bridge, revolutionizing cross-chain transactions.

By combining KRNL’s modular execution infrastructure with Sig Network’s Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology, this partnership introduces cryptographically secure bridge architecture that eliminates delays, reduces fees, and expands interoperability to support all blockchains that use ECDSA, EdDSA, and BLS schemes.

A Technical Breakthrough in Cross-Chain Bridging

Traditional cross-chain bridges often rely on third-party consensus mechanisms or messaging networks, introducing inefficiencies and vulnerabilities. This new bridge leverages MPC-based account abstraction to create a seamless, secure, and cost-effective solution.

Users can now move digital assets between chains instantly, with no confirmation time on the destination chain, while liquidity providers will benefit from enhanced security and flexibility.

Key features of the bridge include:

  • Instantaneous Low-Fee Cross-Chain Swaps: No confirmation time on the destination chain for users.

  • Comprehensive Blockchain Compatibility: A single bridge solution for all compatible networks.

  • Cryptographic Security: Enhanced by MPC technology, eliminating reliance on messaging networks or consensus mechanisms.

  • Simplified User Experience: Single deposit and withdrawal transactions via any Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs).

How It Works

The bridge operates through two core components:

  1. Deposit Transaction: Users initiate a deposit transaction from their EOA to the bridge liquidity pool (a Sig account) on the origin chain.

  2. Withdrawal/Release Transaction: The bridge’s liquidity pool authorizes the user’s EOA to withdraw the bridged amount on the destination chain once the source chain transaction passes the pre-confirmation requirement.

This architecture minimizes attack vectors by eliminating smart contracts on bridging chains and leveraging Sig Network’s MPC network for secure key management of the liquidity pools.

The Power of NFT Chain Keys

At the heart of this innovation lies the NFT Chain Keys system, which uses NEP-171-compliant NFTs to manage MPC keys securely and flexibly. Each key can manage an unlimited number of addresses, enabling scalable and granular control over cross-chain transactions. Developers can integrate this system into their dApps with ease, ensuring robust security and seamless interoperability.

What This Means for Web3 Builders

For developers, this partnership unlocks unprecedented opportunities to build innovative multi-chain applications:

  1. Seamless Integration: Leverage KRNL’s developer tooling and Sig Network’s MPC technology to create cryptographically secure dApps.

  2. Enhanced Security: Eliminate reliance on third-party consensus mechanisms with MPC-based key management.

  3. Cost Efficiency & Speed: Reduce fees and eliminate confirmation times for cross-chain transactions.

  4. Scalability & Flexibility: Use NFT Chain Keys to manage unlimited addresses across multiple chains effortlessly.

Stay tuned for future updates as we prepare to open source our bridge codebase, empowering developers to harness our groundbreaking technology. Builders will soon be able to build novel cross-chain DeFi applications, pushing the boundaries of what was previously thought possible in the Web3 ecosystem.
